Get Ready for Some Excitement in 2013!
2013 is poised to be the best year yet for the Route 128 West corridor. And to boot, our team here at 128 Business Council is very excited about the coming service improvements we’re putting in place on January 2, 2013, and we hope you will be too.
We strive to provide every 128 Business Council Member the most eco-friendly information, courteous service, reliable transportation and innovative community-building events. Thank you for being a valued Member and for supporting our efforts as we continue to grow and serve you better.
The New Shuttles are Coming Soon!
Part of our service improvements include brand new shuttles for Alewife, Needham and Waltham. Starting January 2, 2013, new vehicles for these routes will be in service. In addition, along with the new vehicles will come improved dispatch communications that will help you get the information you need quickly and accurately.

Planning an Additional Route for Waltham
We are evaluating adding a new route to Waltham. Because we need to provide service to a growing ridership, we are looking at several options for this new service. We will update you when the new Waltham route is added, and if you have any questions in the meantime, please contact us.
Planning a New Vehicle for Alewife
Along with our growth in ridership, we’re also considering an additional vehicle to Route A on the Alewife service. This will ease congestion on the shuttles and add higher frequency to the stops along the current route.
We will announce when we add this extra vehicle to Alewife Route A and keep you informed. If you have questions, please contact us.
Rider ID Reminder
It is mandatory that all riders show their shuttle ID/stickers upon boarding. Get your IDs from your company or community transportation coordinator or email us at 128BC@128BC.org.
Also, some riders will have some minor schedule enhancements, so stay connected with us to find out how you will be impacted.
2008 to 2013: Zero Fare Increases
Can you believe 128 Business Council has not passed along a fare increase since 2008? For the past four years we have absorbed fuel cost differences to keep our vehicles in operation. Now that fuel prices have consistently remained at current levels, we can no longer operate without minor increases to help us recover the fuel expense.
As such, these fare changes will go into effect January 2, 2013:
Alewife
- Individual Member fare: $2.75
- Individual Non-Member fare: $5.00
- Member 10-ride pass: $27.50 (4 for $100.00)
- Non-Member 10-ride pass: $50
Waltham
- Individual Member fare: $2.00
- Individual Non-Member fare: $3.00
- Member 10-ride pass: $20.00 (4 for $70.00)
- Non-Member 10-ride pass: $30.00
Needham
- Individual Non-Member fare: $4.00
- Non-Member 10-ride pass: $40.00
If you have any questions regarding these fare changes, please call us at 781-890-0093 or email us at 128BC@128BC.org.
